Zambia Community Based Natural Resource Management Forum

The Zambia Community Based Natural Resource Management Forum (ZCBNRM) focuses on creating secure livelihoods for communities in Zambia through the sustainable utilisation of natural resources including forestry, fisheries, water, agriculture, land and wildlife. ZCBNRM’s mission is to promote community-based natural resources management (CBNRM) and sustainable utilisation of natural resources in Zambia and to facilitate the implementation of CBNRM programs through lobbying, advocacy, capacity building activities, networking and information sharing.

The Zambia CVNRM Forum was established in 2005 with the aim to reduce poverty through CBNRM. The Forum works with organisations across Zambia to share best practice, learning and create a unilateral voice in influence policy and government decision makers. Currently, the Zambia CBNRM Forum is a member of global networks including the Global ICCA Consortium and the Global Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture. It is finalising its membership with the IUCN. The Forum took a key role in facilitating regional and national consultation for the policy on Game Management Areas and Open Areas in Zambia. The Forum is leading the process of piloting the Governance Assessment of Protected Areas in Zambia while working in collaboration with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
