Namibia Nature Foundation

The Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF) was founded in 1987 and is Namibia’s leading conservation and sustainable development non-governmental organisation, contributing to a wide range of programs through their core technical expertise and proficiency in financial and project management. The NNF promotes sustainable development, the conservation of biological diversity and natural ecosystems, and the wise and ethical use of natural resources for the benefit of all Namibian’s both present and future.

The NNF envisages a sustainable Namibia both in terms of its people and the land upon which it develops. The NNF actively participates in key local, regional, national and global processes and contributes to environmental and sustainability solutions primarily within Namibia but also beyond its borders. Considerable emphasis is still placed on the protection of parks and endangered species, however, the current focus of the NNF’s work is on broad sustainable development including environment and people, and environment and development. This is seen in their work in community-based natural resource management, combating of desertification, pollution and waste management, emphasis on policy, training and education, and their grants to initiatives that promote the democratisation of environmental management and that link socio-economic development with sound environmental management.
